Silicon Beach - Developer Hackathon

This is our groups first "Hackathon" meetup for our group in the Sunshine Coast.

The event is on Saturday 28th Sept from 10AM - 6PM at the new E-com Noosa innovation park.

Inspired by http://protonight.com/ we will be organizing a day hackathon where you will be teamed up with another person, and spend the day developing an awesome prototype mockup/application.

= What's the point =

Networking, collaboration, motivation, learning, uniting idea people with developers, finding people you hit it off with!

= Why 2 people = You will be randomly paired with one other person for the whole day. Pairs will chat, throw around some ideas, brainstorm, strategize, and implement a very focused prototype. Groups of 2 tend to have high engagement and low disagreement. Idea people will be paired with developers (idea people can also be developers).

= What type of things should we work on =

A day isn't much time so pick an achievable goal - a subset of your larger idea. Start with some brainstorming. Mock up some of the ui on paper or Balsamiq Mockups (http://www.balsamiq.com). Make a very focused app in PHP, NodeJS, Rails, etc. Make a few pages using Bootstrap (http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/). Do a proof-of-concept with a couple calls to an API via Javascript. Keep it simple, yet functional.

= What should I bring =

Developers should bring their laptops with a dev environment ready to go. Idea people should bring an idea or two and maybe some paper to scribble on.

= What will be provided =
Lunch, coffee and munchies will be provided. At 5PM it's coding tools down, beers will be provided, and each group will have 5 mins to present their prototype/ideas to the group, wrapping up by 6PM.
