At our inaugral meetup Steve and I are going to give an introduction to a relatively new programming language from Google called Go.
Whilst we aren't using Go for any of our own projects yet, we have been through the tutorials and interviewed Andrew Gerrand, one of Google's Gophers about it. We can tell you what makes it different to Java (and C/C++) and why you might want to keep an eye on it!
I think that as a home-baked coder back in those days, the options were pretty limited and BASIC had better prospects :)
Not sure, it certainly wasn't as accessible to me as BASIC.
Thank you all for coming tonight. I certainly enjoyed myself (I think Steve did too) and hopefully we educated and/or entertained you. The slides and examples from tonight are available from https://bitbucket.org/codingbynumbers/go![]()
.
I forgot to mention, whoever left their sunglasses behind, I've got them. Ping me and I'll arrange to get them back to you!

Looking like everyone learnt basic as their first language...could be due to the coding by numbers hint though :-)
