April Creative Technologists Meetup.

Details
Join us this month to hear Adam Ben-Dror talk about his practice as an artist and designer often employing the use of technology.
Adam studied Industrial Design at Victoria University of Wellington (http://www.victoria.ac.nz/) and spent a year studying at Carnegie Mellon (http://www.cmu.edu/index.shtml) where he was a member of the Visible Process Lab (http://vpl.design.cmu.edu/people).
Adam is moving up to live and work in Auckland this month so it’s a great opportunity to welcome him to the community by having him as a guest presenter at the Meetup.
You might recognise his work Pinokio (http://ben-dror.com/pinokio/) which won gold at the 2013 Best Awards.
“I explore my passion for the synergy that exists between beauty and utility by creating objects that have a balance between aesthetics and functional purpose. I experiment with materials, balance, scale and new media technologies. I am also interested in designing for animals.” Adam Ben-Dror.
Visit Adam’s website www.ben-dror.com (http://ben-dror.com/) to see the great range of work that he will be talking about, including the fantastic Abovemarine (http://ben-dror.com/the-abovemarine/)which allows fish to roam freely on land!

Acting as a physical social network the Meetup provides valuable links between people, skills and knowledge, enabling more collaborative opportunities and building the collective capabilities of the community. Each event follows a basic format including a structured presentation and discussion based around a theme, faculty or guest speaker followed by free discussion time and networking.
These Meetups happen on the last Wednesday of every month. 6 – 8pm. Colab AUT, Colab Open Studio, Level 11, Sir Paul Reeves Building. Governor Fitzroy Pl, AUT City Campus.
If you have something you’d like to bring or share please bring it along, if you have an idea for a presentation do let me know: harry.silver@aut.ac.nz
