The T8 TRUST SUMMIT w/ NYC's finest minds

  • June 4, 2012 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We've "pivoted" our format several times, but the vision is solid. Join academics, experts, founders, community managers, and a few other guests to talk about one thing, TRUST.

What one thing can flip the switch on the Sharing Economy, moving it from early adopters to a greater global audience? TRUST.

Come hear those with first hand knowledge on the subject, and learn…

- Why so many Sharing marketplaces have missed half the equation. Trust is two sided!

- How can your company create Trust?  (believe it or not, there are some rules)

- How does Trust differ between Sharing Economy businesses?

- Why “reputation” and “influence” are not the same ---and not nearly enough

Join the conversation in a "super panel" with authors of The Trusted Advisor, representatives from AirBnB, TrustCloud, SpaceSplitter, Knodes, Krrb, Carpooling.com, loosecubes and more.

The evening's program

6-6:30 Grab a beer from the world famous Meetup Beer Fridge and talk trust with someone! (If you want a tour of MeetupHQ from @heif himself, go directly to the 10th fl at 6pm sharp).

1) Ruhi -TMB

2)Padden - CEC

3)Sekai Farai - HE

4)Keara - SSS

5)John - VRFY

6:45-7:30 Trust Summit/Town Hall

Hi all: I wrote about the meeting in a new post on my blog Ampleen. I discuss how we develop trust in a community - check out: http://ampleen.blogspot.com/2012/06/building-trust-in-city-case-of-el-sol.html

Great event, but seemed a little short as the time flew by. Interesting discussion. Thanks to the organizers for running the show and to meetup for hosting.

These meetings are getting better and better. I got many insights on the Trust topic and I was quite amazed by the quality of both panelists and attendees. What I love the most in those meetings is the diversity of participants. It was great to see people from Washington and very interesting to mix field experts with entrepreneurs of the sharing economy.

Thanks for the great meetup everyone! I'm sorry Patrick and I had to run to catch the train back to DC but I would love to connect with all of you one-on-one to discuss the Collaborative Economy Coalition. The sharing economy relies on trust - but its really tough for the public and the government to trust an industry w/o a face. We want to put your faces next to the movement and make the collaborative economy mainstream. Join us. Please shoot me an email at [masked]

The quality of the meetup is dependent on the quality of the people- and here the bar was set high. I especially appreciated the fact that the meeting didn't turn into a self promotion pitch by companies.

Well managed discussion that was interesting at points. One recommendation would have been to start with more definitions, i.e. what is 'trust', share economy, etc.

Much better than the second one. I liked the circular layout

Great meetup once again! But perhaps we should have a smaller panel? They were all great, but it might be better to go more in depth with fewer people, for a more substantial discussion. Plus we could space out our panelists to ensure quality speakers at each meeting. Great work guys!

Thank you for facilitating another great meetup! I thought of "trust" and think that it may be also cultural issue? I wrote about a bike share in my blog Ampleen and discussed about how different bikers' mind-sets are in Europe and U.S. Like one of the participants mentioned, trust can be deeply rooted in so many layers, such as education and belief systems.... Any way, I enjoyed the discussion tonight!

hi, this is scott heiferman @ meetup hq. while thousands of meetups happen daily, we're proud to provide the space for this one tonight because we believe in what it's about: the future is how *people* will connect&collaborate in new ways-- forming a new economy & culture -- producing&requiring TRUST...so have a great meetup! also, if you'd like a 10-min tour of meetup hq from me, come to the 10th floor (not 9) at 6PM sharp!
