Re: [Colorado-Quad-Runners] Posting Photos...a suggestion

I scanned through the link and I think that the main thing I got from it was the portion about "identifiable and public place." Since the majority of the photos that I see posted are taken on rides or in camping areas I do not see a large problem here since those are public places.

Just my opinion.

Do you mean, for instance, that when we have our campouts, we are to ask every individual in those group shots, (around the campfire, group rides, pot luck, playing games, etc.), if they would allow us to post the picture of them on the meetup or quad runner website?

How about making it easier on all of us then, and ask the members in our group who does not wish to have their picture posted?  I think that list might be a lot shorter and lot more "do-able".

If there are certain members...and it should not matter what their reasons are, as it may be personal, or it may be job related...please get their names and publicize those particular names to everyone in the club....that way, we can be respectful of their wishes.
Perhaps too, give that individual the option of seeing the picture first to verify if they deem it acceptable?

Might it be possible to include this information with our club members rosters that have the contact information...perhaps if there was a way to create another column/columns, so that all of us have that information readily available?
The options might be...Do you wish to NOT have your picture posted publicly?  And then...if not, would you like to preview the picture first before deciding?
These questions could be included with the original membership paperwork...and for those whom are current members, just gather the information at the next meeting/meetings.

These suggestions are not to make things more complicated, as we are supposed to be having fun...not trying to give anyone options to take someone to court or sue them...but this matter has come up for a reason...and perhaps we can all come to some kind of an agreement that would make everyone happy.

As I believe we are all respectable adults, I would certainly hope that any pictures that are posted publicly, are done in good taste and are respectful to all.

Common courtesy and putting yourself in someone else's shoes, might be a consideration to be made by all, regarding deciding which pictures to post.

All,

IF you are considering a posting of a photo that has a recognizable face of an individual...PLEASE READ THIS:

commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/commons:Photographs_of_identifiable_people

A couple of exerpts to consider:

* The subject's consent is usually needed for publishing a photograph of an identifiable individual taken in a private place... and

* Care should also be taken not to defame the subject

Thanks for your consideration to this matter as we have some individuals in the Club who do NOT wish to be posted publicly without their permission.

President
