The Holiday's heavy work load has passed for those of us running ecommerce sites, and the corporate developers are in the middle of their December lull, so this should be a good time to start this group back toward regular meetings.
I have scheduled a meeting for Tuesday, Dec 27 from 6 to 9 pm.
There have been several posting on the meetup.com site about interest in these meetings, so we should hopefully have some good enthusiasm. Remember that the real value of these events is in the social contacts you make, and the discussions you take part in.
Several people have suggested topics they would like to discuss. Hopefully one or more the them will respond to this email and come ready to lay out their current struggle, their recent success or their plans for their next undertaking.
I am going to be in the middle of converting my ecommerce site to online credit card transactions, so that process is likely to be heavy on my mind. (Yes, I'm still doing off-line card posting after all these years). I know it might be boring to some people, but raking in the money is what the web is all about, right??
We parked our Jumla project several months ago, but we might freshen it up and bring it to the meeting to show what we learned and did. Or maybe and real jumla pro will email and show up with a "knock your eyes out" presentation.
We'll be using one of the small meeting rooms at the East Library (5555 North Union Blvd between Academy and Vickers). My goal is to use a class-room type environment so we can all focus on the task at hand. We'll have a project to connect to your laptop, or maybe an Ipad??
Speaking of I-stuff, I'm hoping to address changing some site designs to allow for a better small-screen experience in the next few months. Maybe we can talk about that on Tuesday also.
Since this is our first meetup at this site and time, we will be happy to welcome late arrivals. And since the Library has stopped their coffee and snacks service, you'll have to pack in your own caffine support system.
Hope to see several of you there.
