Veg Foreign Exchange Student in Need of Placement Home

Dear Veg Group Members,

I received and email yesterday from Holly who works on placing foreign exchange students with families through her company World Link, Inc. They have a student selected from the Ukraine to come to Colorado. She is very interested in animal rights and is vegan. She lives in a meat eating family, so she is used to making her own meal accommodation, but they are trying to set her up with a host family that is vegetarian or vegan while she is staying here in America. So far they have not been able to find a host family.

They would love to find a host willing to accept her for the school year, but if not, would also be grateful for a short term host, willing to welcome her into their home for a a few weeks in the beginning of the school year to ensure she gets meets her visa deadline to come to America and gets started in school while we continue searching for a full year host family. Below is some information about the student and about being a host family. This student must be matched with a host by next Monday, the 13th, in order to meet the deadline to come to America!

Hosts can be married or single with or without children. Hosts offer a bed (the student can share a room with a sibling, but needs their own bed), meals, and arranges school transportation. The student is fully insured and receives an allowance from the organization each month to cover their fun activities and personal items.

Sofiya, from Ukraine, is a vegan but lives with her meat eating family, so she is comfortable making her own accommodations. She has trained in aikido, attended drama club and literary circle. Every year Sofiya participates in English and Ukrainian language, math and poetry competitions. For 8 years she studied to play piano and now is learning to play ukulele. Sofiya loves animals. She is attending belly dance group and she likes roller skating and swimming. She also enjoys cooking, debates, environmental issues, watching movies, drawing, reading, singing, spending time with friends and travel.

If you are interested please contact Holly at: [masked] or  [address removed]

Thanks,
Liz
