Join compassionate friends for a volunteer work day at our local non-profit farmed animal sanctuary. Cotton Branch has provided refuge for neglected and abused farmed animals since 2004. Horses, goats, donkeys, lots of pigs, two sheep, turkeys, geese, ducks, chickens and a bull named Freckles (along with a few dogs and cats) all live contentedly on the farm.
Volunteer days are 18+ only - if you'd like to arrange a personal tour of the farm (children welcome) contact Jan at pigmama@gmail.com. Donations suggested.
Please leave 4-legged family members at home.
What To Bring:
(Tools, etc. TBA depending on the day's work list)
- Work gloves
- Hat
- Water
- Snack (no animal products please)
Produce for the animals is very welcome - carrots, bananas, and romaine leaf lettuce are especially convenient. Nothing is more fun than feeding pigs!
Financial donations are tax deductible, always needed and MUCH appreciated!

Note: This event was posted because many Columbia Veg members are interested in farmed animal rights/welfare.
Even if you are primarily interested in exploring a plant-based diet for health reasons, an event like this can provide a great opportunity to meet and interact with animals who are commonly used for food in the U.S. Many people find they can't imagine ever eating them again!
