Fabricator and Handlebars

This meet up will have two presenters Luke Askew and Michael Baltic. Both topics will help you plan for your next web-based project and provide insight on how to architect modular sites.

"Introduction to Fabricator" Presented by Luke Askew

• Fabricator is an open source tool for creating modular websites created by Luke Askew. This presentation will provide insight on Fabricator and how it can be used on your next project for design and development. You can visit the Fabricator project on GitHub:

• Presentation audience: Designers, Developers (UI focus) , Project Managers, Team leads

"An introduction, and deeper dive, into creating frustration free, effective, and semantic HTML templates with Handlebars.js" Presented by Michael Baltic

• This presentation is appropriate for the Designer, the Developer, and the Manager. Upon completion, you will have the answers to the following questions: Why do I need to create templates for my HTML? Why are semantics important to website design and maintenance? How does Handlebars.js help me to create semantic templates for my website? How do I use Handlebars to create reusable website components? How do I use Handlebars to create templates for lists, grids, and other complex data. How do I extend the Handlebars scripts to handle my custom features? How do I test Handlebars templates and scripts to give myself, my team, my boss, and my customer confidence in the performance of my website? How do I optimize templates and Handlebars for better performing websites? How do I grow, and maintain, a handlebar moustache? :{)

• Presentation audience: Developers (and Designers)

Luke Askew

• A Senior Developer at Resource, a digitally-focused agency based in the Arena District. He's enthusiastic about creating really awesome things on the web, usually in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

Michael Baltic

• A graduate of The Ohio State University, I have been building custom software and websites in the Central Ohio area for 10+ years (I have only had a handlebar moustache for 3 of those years). I have worked on many large, public facing web sites in the law enforcement, financial, and consumer spaces and more recently mobile apps for iOS, Android and Windows. I've carried a Windows Phone since the Pocket PC 2002 days and I am an avid photographer of things cute and delicious. Feel free to ask me about mead, tandem bicycles or standby air travel....

I'm going to say maybe. It was a "yes", but I am closing on my house that evening. It really depends on how quickly I can sign over 200 pages of mortgage jargon. ;)
