Hi! The group name Common Ground is taken from the dilemma called 'the Tragedy of the Commons' where individuals act in self-interest to deplete a natural resource when it is not in their long-term interest to do so.

The purpose of this group is to meet at least once a month to discuss topics of sustainable development. Sustainable Development is the interaction of myriad pieces forming a complex puzzle. For example, global connectivity, income inequality, consumpution patterns, demographics, environment, energy needs, biodiversity, agriculture, human empathy and human needs, ideologies, water, cultural norms, resources, politics, sanitation, etc. are all part and parcel to addressing the questions what is sustainable development, and how do we realistically achieve it?

Common Ground will discuss the facts, thoughts, and opinions on a new sustainable development topic each month.

I started this group because I enjoy talking about these issues. The idea of talking about these issues over drinks (and maybe a bite to eat) seems like a great way to learn more, meet new people, and have fun. I encourage anyone with an opinion to join.
