Reiki practitioners, here's another opportunity to learn about volunteering with hospice!
Many of you have been telling me that you would like more volunteer opportunities to serve the community and missed the last information session. Hospice is a great place to share your gifts!
What is Hospice?
Hospice is end-of-life comfort care for people who are terminally ill (and their families). Volunteers augment the medical and spiritual care provided by hospice staff. Reiki supports better sleep, pain relief, and stress reduction for people receiving hospice care.
What's involved in Volunteering as a Reiki Practitioner?
Sheri Harrell, the volunteer coordinator for Community Nursing Services, will give us an overview of:
* What hospice care entails
* The current demand for Reiki services (must be trained in Reiki, any level)
* What is required of volunteers (they make it very easy and comfortable and even pay for things like the TB test and background check)
* How volunteers are supported
Jennafer Martin is a Reiki Master who has been volunteering with CNS for the few years. She will share her experiences to give you a picture of what it's like to serve in this way.
Both Sheri and Jennafer will answer your questions to help you decide if offering Reiki sessions as part of end-of-life care is a good fit for you.
