Reiki practitioners, here's another opportunity to learn about volunteering with hospice!

Many of you have been telling me that you would like more volunteer opportunities to serve the community and missed the last information session.  Hospice is a great place to share your gifts!

What is Hospice?

Hospice is end-of-life comfort care for people who are terminally ill (and their families).  Volunteers augment the medical and spiritual care provided by hospice staff.  Reiki supports better sleep, pain relief, and stress reduction for people receiving hospice care.

What's involved in Volunteering as a Reiki Practitioner?

Sheri Harrell, the volunteer coordinator for Community Nursing Services, will give us an overview of:

*  What hospice care entails
*  The current demand for Reiki services (must be trained in Reiki, any level)
*  What is required of volunteers (they make it very easy and comfortable and even pay for things like the TB test and background check)
*  How volunteers are supported

Jennafer Martin is a Reiki Master who has been volunteering with CNS for the few years.  She will share her experiences to give you a picture of what it's like to serve in this way.

Both Sheri and Jennafer will answer your questions to help you decide if offering Reiki sessions as part of end-of-life care is a good fit for you.

    I'm just hearing about this; but am interested and missed the info session yesterday. Can anyone pass on details? I have a conflict with the 3/8 training -- but the conflict might change times to later in the day, which would allow me to attend.
    Thanks!!

      Call Sheri[masked] and she'll fill you in. She'll also set up a time to do your training.

    Do they have patients in the Weber/Davis county areas that I could work with?

    Any Reiki practitioners planning to attend this hospice volunteer information session? Please RSVP! I'll be inviting folks on Facebook as well.

    I am very interested in exactly this type of service. However, due to scheduling conflicts, I may not be able to attend this meeting. Will there be any other meetings regarding the hospice volunteer services anytime soon, or is there any other opportunity to contact the people involved to get more information?
    Thank you

      Hi, Carolyn. I will be scheduling a volunteer training after this information session. If you'd like information before attending the training, and won't make it to this event, call Sheri directly 801.233.6100. Thanks!

    I have a background in patient administration, and would like to ask the CNS staff how my skills can be used to support CNS on a voluntary basis.
