Topanga State Park to Eagle Rock 5 mile loop

Details

This is about a 5 mile loop hike with about 600 feet elevation. We will go up on the Musch trail which winds up in an easy but steady grade until we reach Eagle rock. There are some nice views of the canyons on the way. Eagle rock offers some amazing views and on a clear day we can see all the way to the ocean. We will then decend via the fire roads through oak trees and chapparal back to the parking lot. This should take no more than 2 hours.

DIRECTIONS:
From the Ventura Freeway (101), exit at Topanga Canyon Boulevard, drive south over the crest of the mountains and proceed three miles to Entrada Road (not Entrado!) and turn left. Keep to the left at every opportunity until you reach the park's main parking lot (about one mile)

From Pacific Coast Highway, travel north on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, pass the post office at the center of "town," then turn right on Entrada Road. Keep to the left at every opportunity until you reach the park's main parking lot (about one mile).

Parking is $10.00 (exact change) in Park. There is some street parking (free) outside of the park on the road But it fills up fast.

We will leave the trail head PROMPTLY AT 9:30. Please be on time.

Our guidelines;

Be on time. We will not wait for you. It is not fair to those who are on time. We leave the trail head promptly at the time indicated.

Bring lots of water and have extra in your car. Bug repellent, sunscreen and a snack of some kind (energy bar, nuts and fruit etc.) are also a good idea.

Always check the website the morning of the hike to be sure it is still on.

Responsibility: Denise and Lori are not responsible for you. You are responsible for yourself. You should be aware of your own capabilities in regard to your hiking endurance and how well you do in the heat. Should you find you cannot complete the hike, you must be able to find your way back to your car on your own. We will not be able to leave the group and lead you back to the trail head. In this regard we suggest you bring a friend if you are unsure of how strong you are.

Disclaimer: The organizer and assistant organizers take no responsibility and will not be held responsible for any injuries or accidents that may occur during the hike. Hiking can be inherently dangerous and accidents might happen. By participating in this hike posted on this meetup web page you are taking responsibility for your own safety and well-being.
