I care most about the world's growing Israel- hatred, thanks to general Jew-hate, self-hating Jews who love Obama, and my daughter's decision to join the IDF, which forced me to study a topic I'd avoided and made me learn to read a map. I think most about how the Brazil I loved is disappearing, thanks to importation of American racial politics by leaders of a beautiful mixed-race nation with a completely different history. I loved that Brazilians spoke and behaved according to the region they were raised rather than the color of their skin. The USA should have, could have, learned from Brazil, not the other way around! But once a people are divided, it's near impossible to bring them back together. Sometimes I sadly understand how these two issues are really one.
I wrote for ArtNews and taught at Parsons in late 80s. In 1993, I moved from the NYC artworld to Brazil and lived there til 2008. Since back in the USSA, I can't talk with old friends at all or without ye olde "no politics" rule.
