Repeat of Spring Equinox Hike - NEW LOCATION

Due to extremely muddy conditions at our previous location, I am changing to location of this hike to Button Rock Reservoir trail. There is parking for 30 cars there, however, since we are getting a late start, I think we should all meet in Lyons and try to carpool up to reduce the number of cars. Meet at Noon in front of the Stone Cup restaurant in Lyons.

March 20, 2013 is the vernal (spring) equinox. Traditional celebrations of the vernal equinox would include the removal of negative energy left over from winter, something that may have been a precursor to the American tradition of “spring cleaning.” You throw the windows open, clear out the dust and debris that’s been hiding in the shadows in the long, dark days of winter, and make room for things to start anew. This version of spring cleaning can also be transformed into a psychological exercise that can be done on a hike in nature and be a source of mental renewal and cleansing. Positive, clean energy is breathed in, and negative, toxic energy is breathed out.

We'll stop at the half-way point to do a little mental spring cleaning meditation.

TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Button Rock is a flat, wide trail (road) next to the river in a narrow canyon, that leads up to Button Rock Reservoir. This will be an out-and-back of about 4 miles. It is an EASY hike - more like a walk.

DIRECTIONS to meeting spot: Google 442 High Street, Lyons, CO 80540. This is the Stone Cup Restaurant. We will meet in front. Park on the street. We will then drive up to Button Rock. Meet at the Stone Cup at Noon.
