New Meetup: Goshawk Trail - Cultivating Inner Knowing

Announcing a new Meetup for Contemplative Hiking Along the Front Range!

What: Goshawk Trail - Cultivating Inner Knowing

When: Saturday, July 24,[masked]:30 AM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

The Goshawk Trail, which is located near the town of Eldorado Springs, is my favorite Front Range hiking trail. Not too many people know about it because it was just constructed in 2009. The parking at the trailhead is limited, therefore it's wise to arrive early on weekends, park at the Dowdy Draw Trailhead, and carpool the mile up to the trailhead for this hike. Both the Dowdy Draw and South Mesa Trail parking lots fill up quickly on Saturday mornings, this is the reason for the early meeting time :-)

We will be doing a silent hike and learning how to cultivate inner knowing using intuition and signs from nature. I will give a short talk before we embark. We will have a chance to discuss our experience during the last half hour of the hike.

The duration of this hike is 2 hours minimum at a moderate pace. We may slow down in places, which will make this perhaps a 2-1/2 hour hike. There are gradual uphill slopes and some slightly steeper, but this is not a strenuous trail.

DIRECTIONS TO MEETING PLACE: Take Highway 93 from Golden or Boulder, turn west on CO-170 (Eldorado Canyon Drive), go 1.7 miles to the Dowdy Draw Trail parking on your left (north) side. We will meet there and carpool up to the actual trailhead.

If you're late, you can try to meet us at the actual trailhead. From the Dowdy Draw parking, go another mile up the road toward the town of Eldorado Springs. You'll see a dirt road on your left, which is Boulder County Road 67, turn left. Go about ? mile where the road ends and park near the trailhead on the east side where it is allowed.

I will bring a cardboard sign with the words "MeetUp" on it. That's how you'll find me. If you have questions that morning or need better directions, please call my cellphone at[masked]-7230.
