Continuous Delivery at New Relic by Ralph Bodenner

Hi All,

We're scheduling what we thought would be the first meetup for this group. (Initiators of the July 2 meetup: love the enthusiasm!) Sorry for the delay, but it took some time to work out the dates.

Ralph Bodenner from New Relic (co-sponsor of the Group) will be the first speaker. Ralph will talk about New Relic's experiences in growing from a few developers supporting a few thousand users to 70+ developers delivering continuously to thousands of large and small commercial customers.

We'll also do a couple of lightning talks(2-3 5 minute presentations). If interested, send a couple sentences on what you'd like to talk about to the organizers.

Our friends at Mozilla have offered up their San Francisco office for our meetup and - as an added bonus - will have a keg on hand for when we get thirsty. Sauce Labs, another co-sponsor of the group, will pick up the food for the evening. Thanks to both companies for the support!

We'll be upping the attendee limit to 100 so spread the word. Let us know if you have any questions about the event; otherwise, see ya in a few weeks!

A great start to something wonderful. I can tell that everyone who showed up meant business in terms of CD. We're definitely going to have some great speakers, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

I was really hoping to hear some technical details about how New Relic went about implementing Continuous Delivery. Instead, we got the 25 thousand mile view and a story about Dr.MacCready
I believe Ralph mentioned the CI tool they are using only once during the presentation.
I can't help but wonder if we'd have had a much more interesting talk from Nic Benders, the originally scheduled presenter.

I hope future presentations are more focused on the mostly technical audience.

Very clear retelling of NR's journey from discrete delivery towards continuous delivery. Lots of good pointers toward better practices that have worked and a transparent sharing of the worse practices that didn't.

Yep, this meetup is about the process, culture and technology of continuous deployment. So Jenkins, Hudson (and other CI tools) are very much on-topic.

Turns out that Sauce Labs (sponsor) can't make July 25 work, and really wants to make the first meet. So we're changing to July 26 before too many people RSVP. Hope this works for everyone who wants to attend. We're really sorry to be moving things around.

We'll follow with a location this week.
