Introduce Yourself

I'm Rick. I think cosplay-ing is fun. Its been a while since I have cosplayed, but I know its a new convention experience when you do it. It allows me to be very creative and nerdy while being manly working with power tools, sharp knives and flammable materials. Its not a hobby many of my friend share. We are all geeks, but I am the only one who wants to don a full on Rick Hunter Flight Suit for a convention or a N7 armor. Its not enough for me to hit a con with a clever shirt, sometimes I want revel even more in my geekiness.

How experienced are you in cosplay?

I cosplayed as Rick Hunter a few years back. I'm build a flight helmet and flight suit. Fun times. I just finished a Commander Shepard costume that I am debuting this year.

Do you have any suggestions for meetups you'd like to see?

I'd like to just meet up with other cosplayers who can show off their works and learn some new techniques from each other. I go to the 405th alot, but having someone local that I can talk to and work with would be a cool learning experience for both people. A lot of the armor guys use paper craft techique that requires building the paper model, fiberglassing, bondo and its a long process, then there is the Foam armor crowd thats popular and having people who can learn from each other would be fun. Maybe one to plan cosplay groups. I always wanted to do a Avatar the last Airbender group or a Robotech group. The only time I had a strong group was the first time I cosplayed, there needs to be more love of the classics!

What is your experience with costume construction?

Hi I'm Rick. I'm a charming geek who lives to cosplay and is starting it up again with Anime Expo this year.
