HUBBA, HUBBA...Vintage Sleuths hit Burbank!

Of course, Sheilah and I don't "need" anything more in our closets, but that's never curbed our curiosity or interest in stimuling vintage store sleuthing! How about you? Burbank's vintage core of cool shops, is an easy walk for any gumshoe. Lunch during or after to share our discoveries!

HUBBA HUBBA

Yelper, Claire P., says, “I found her (Pat) to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable and would thoroughly recommend this store to any one. Coming from London, I made a point of visiting as many vintage stores as I could, and this was by far one of the best in terms of stock and pricing. Her selection of jewelry is outstanding. I will definitely go back next time I'm in LA.”

PLAYCLOTHES

“This is a fun place to go shopping,” yelps James J. “Don't forget to open up drawers, where you will find hidden treasures! The staff was helpful but you have to ask. The prices were high if you are used to thrift shopping, but it is nice that they have done the digging for you!  Also, they do this great things with the tags (they write down where and when the stuff came from).”

33 ROOMS

3318 W Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505

“What happens when you mix a lovely lady with an arts and photography background with a clothing shop,” asks Orsolya D (Yelper)?  “Answer: 33 Rooms. Upon walking in, you feel almost like you are in an art gallery with Jimmy Choos and funky jewelry as the art. Turntables sit next to the register blasting Holly's love for electronic music.”

Anonymous Yelper, adds, “Sure there's a lot of pricey stuff, but if u dig enough there's some good stuff. I've noticed a lot of guys like to shop here; This is just from observation.  We're not too cool to look up the abbreviations on the movie list. Adds to the cool factor knowing what set it came from, only if you care of course.”

MAGNOLIA COMMONS

Dawn M., “Almost passed this place, but luckily I went inside and discovered the rad little wonders that make up Magnolia Commons!  The shop features new designers mixed with used and vintage pieces, like handbags, wallets, and the most adorable jewelry.  After wandering most of Magnolia Blvd, the price point here seemed lower than most other places and the quality was excellent.

Lapzo S., Yelper, swooned, “I was instant love!”  “The best part is that the prices are absolutely affordable.  The owner, who does the shopping for this store, has magnificent taste. The clothes, the set up, even the dressing room, makes you feel oh so good. The way it's categorized = two thumbs up ! Someone put some serious thoughts into it.

They have re-worked items as well as vintage stuff.
Very nice small selection.
I highly recommend checking them out.”  Thanks, Yelp!

Yelpers can’t say enough about Unique Vintage.  “After 2 yrs of driving up and down Magnolia Blvd, I finally stopped and stepped in yesterday. I couldn't of been happier. Great selection in beautiful, vintage inspired dresses. I was surprised to see all sizes were carried (up to 3x!)”

Yelpers wish I could give this little shop 10 stars! Audrey K is an amazing, talented, friendly business owner with a keen eye for design. I love everything in this store and I'm so happy they moved to Burbank!

WASTELAND

Having had people often ask them where they buy their clothes, InSil T. tells them Wasteland!  “I tell them my top five favorite places to shop are second hand/consignment stores. They either seem shocked, grossed out, or promise me they'll hit those stores. I love recycling fashion.”

BEST OF TIMES

3401 W. Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505

 (818)[masked]

This antique store is definitely one of Danielle N.’s favorites. “The prices are just right and, right of the bat, I knew the shop owner was my kind of gal! She is personable, knowledgeable and hilarious!  I love looking through everything and knowing that each time I will most certainly leave with an amazing treasure!

JUNK FOR JOY HALLOWEEN AND VINTAGE

3314 W Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505

(323)[masked]

Del O. was skeptical!  “This place was really not my cup of tea.  It seemed like a cool place to find costumes at but the majority of the stuff in there I wouldn't wear on a regular basis.  I also found the items to be expensive.  I felt as though the workers were watching us like hawks.  Haven't been stalked like that in a long time.  I'm sure some people would find this place to be b*tchin'.  I just didn't.”

ZAMBA

331 N San Fernando Blvd, Burbank, CA 91502

(818)[masked]

“I love this store,” says Yadhira D. “There is a strong Latin and vintage feel to the store but everything is nice and within my price range. The store looks expensive but they have affordable jewelry, clothes, and fun home decor. The owners are very friendly. They've been in business for over 30 years with a store previously across the street.”

LADY PETER’S WHIMSY

725 S Victory Blvd, Burbank, CA 91502

(818)[masked]

www.ladypeterswhimsy.com

"Lady Peter" (aka Victoria, as I've learned from Yelper, Danielle D.) “is the kind of shop owner you hope for when you go to a vintage store like hers!  She's extremely friendly and has the most charming English accent to boot.  You'll find everything from mid-century modern lamps to Hawaiiana, and collectibles to '40s-era wind-up robot toys.”

Some shop names: Hubba Hubba, Playclothes. 127 Rooms, Not Your Mothers Clothes, to name a few, there are about 15 or so, a mix, more Vintage CLothes stores, but also several with furniture and household items. And good eating options as well.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
