About Us
Coven of the Eternal Goddess -Outer Court is a place where women (18+) can come to study witchcraft and the esoteric arts in a warm, comfortable and friendly environment. Workshops, courses and open rituals are run by a range of witches, each with their own qualifications and experience, as well as a kaleidoscopic range of visiting guest teachers.
We are based in Prahran.
There are no membership fees and we only charge enough at each event to cover costs of materials. There are no commitments, just come along and enjoy exploring magic and connecting with like-minded people.
Our Style
This group is run by Green/Eclectic witches. This means that we draw from many sources and traditions and are particularly interested in working in harmony with the Earth's natural energies. Our guest speakers and teachers come to us from a range of different backgrounds and magical traditions...just to keep things fresh and interesting!
What is an 'Outer-Court'?
Covens often consist of an Inner-Court and an Outer-Court. When you first approach a coven, you join its Outer-Court. In the Outer-Court, members come along to open rituals, attend workshops and connect with other witches and magical practitioners. There are loads of Outer-Court events through the year, and many witches remain in the Outer-Court on a permanent basis.
The Inner-Court and How to Join
The Inner-Court is for those those who are interested in delving more deeply into magical study, feel a particularly strong connection with the group, and are ready to commit to working on a regular, long-term basis in more intimate, close circle. It is a very big decision to join a coven so it's not something that happens overnight. If you are looking to join our Inner-Court, start coming along to Outer-Court events as you can, and keep an eye on the calendar for the Introduction to Witchcraft workshops.
About the High Priestess
Miriam approaches the role of High Priestess as a learning manager. She is a qualified teacher and her teaching methods are inspired by the Quality in Schooling program which encourages students to take responsibility for their learning and actively negotiate their own learning paths. Within the coven, Miriam negotiates and develops focused learning-outcomes for each level of witchcraft. She then organises for herself, other coven teachers, and guest speakers to run workshops and practical learning opportunities. Our sisters take responsibility for their own learning by selecting and attending the events that address their learning-outcomes, and which will teach them the skills and knowledge needed to demonstrate the relevant learning outcomes through their assignments. Miriam works to ensure that the teaching methods used are fun, varied and cater for a variety of learning styles and intelligence types.
Miriam’s areas of magical specialisation include magical herblore, spellcrafting, the construction and facilitation of group ritual, virtual magic, Emoto water magic, coven-crafting, fairies in the collective consciousness, and online pagan community management. She is a web-developer by trade and has a B.A in English, Drama and Philosophy, an Honours in English Literature, and a Graduate Diploma of Education (secondary).
Miriam-Fey is no traditionalist! She is a witch but does not consider herself Wiccan (in the Gardnarian sense of the word). She believes that each generation of witches must come to understand and practice magic in a way that is meaningful to them, specifically, and that developments in science and philosophy play an important role in the development of contemporary magical practice. For her, each member of the circle (not just the High Priestess) is a representation of the goddess and has the right to invoke and have a personal, direct relationship with Her.
