Chalkboard Paint: The world is your Chalkboard!!

http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/9/d/d/c/event_107140412.jpegChalkboard Paint is the craft equivalent of a clown car: It is a simple and small project filled with endless cute, fun and hilarious possibilities!
For our first Craftsomniac meeting we will be painting various items with chalkboard paint. I recently used this glorious project to redo an old ugly dresser and now have an obsession with the stuff. Below I have included some inspiration pictures to show you some of the fabulous items you can decorate chalkboardpaint with. I really love this project because it is a versatile and easy craft. I am excited to make a few gift items and some more home decor items using chalkboard paint AND I am looking forward to enjoying a glass of wine and getting to know the CRAFTSOMNIACS of Chicagoland!
HERE IS THE PLAN:
I will bring a "starter kit" for each crafter and then also have additional items available to purchase at the meeting if you would like to paint other items OR even buy to take with you and work on at home after the meeting.
The Meetup fee for each attendee will be $10.00. This fee includes:
A Chalkboard painting craft "Starter Kit":
-1 Jar of Black Chalkboard paint
-1 sponge brush
-Use of other materials during the Meetup, such as masking tape, sandpaper, papertowels, glue, and stencils.
-1 wine glass to decorate during the meeting.
-Instructions for the project
additional notes:
Materials:
I am a "mass production" type of crafter meaning that I like to make multiple items during my craft time, so if you are like me, you may want to make a few different chalkboard painted items. Also, I know that the number one reason for people to not get around to crafting is a lack of time for preparation, so to make it easy for us all to get our craft on and in order to maximize the craft opportunities for the evening, I will be bringing additional paintable items that can be purchased (items will be cheap: $1-$5 each) by group members to work on during the Meetup or to take with you and work on later. This will include a variety of cute items that I think the group would enjoy painting such as:
-Additional jars of chalkboard paint in other colors
-Picture frames
-Terracotta pots
-Door knob hangers
-Plaques
-Extra cute glassware or mugs
-Plus much much more!
***These additional items will be available on a first come basis, so show up early to peruse the option so you can paint a few different things during the meeting if you would like to.
***You may also bring your own items to paint during the meeting. I will have extra paint available to purchase if it is a larger item, but remember that you will have to transport it when it is drying so I would avoid bringing items that are too large. If you have questions about this option, please feel free to email me before the Meetup.
***Please remember to bring cash to pay for the Meetup fee/Starter kit ($10.00) and to buy any additional items you would like to paint during the the craft session.

Craft Meeting Venue:
Molly's is a great Irish Pub in Forest Park. I have arranged to use one of their private rooms upstairs for our Meetup nights. We have the room all evening, so we will have plenty of time to craft, have a drink and chat! When you arrive and park, please just come inside and look for a sign near the entrance which will point you in the direction of the meeting space, or just ask the hostess to point you in the right direction. The room we will use will have everything we will need to craft in comfort including chairs, several large tables and we will even have our own bartender available if we want to order any drinks or food. Meetup attendee's may purchase their own drinks and food to enjoy during the crafting session if they would like to! Here is their website in case you want to scope out the venue where we will be meeting: http://www.themollymalones.com and here is a address so you can directions to the location: Molly Malone's: 7652 Madison Street Forest Park, IL 60130 (It is near Oak Park, just 10 minutes west of downtown Chicago.)
SO...That is the Plan!!! Please feel free to email me if you have any other questions or ideas for the meeting. Check out the pictures below for inspiration and please don't forget to RSVP!
I look forward to seeing you all soon and doing some awesome crafts together!
GO CRAFTSOMNIACS!!!!!
