Re: [businessnetwork-1228] Looking for A Music Loving Web Design Partner

Hi Chris,
I'd be happy to get together with you and chat about this. I'm a graphic designer (mostly print) but I'm venturing into the web site design arena. Since I'm more into the "design" aspect, and not the programming aspect, we might be a good match. I teach graphic design at Platt College from 730a-1230p Mon.-Thurs., so afternoons or evenings are generally good for me as far as meetings are concerned. The program I'm learning to use for web site design is Site Grinder, which works in conjunction with Photoshop. We print designers like Photoshop for it's flexibility and special effects capabilities, so it's a natural marriage of "making things pretty" and the technical/programming side of site design/management because Site Grinder takes care of all of that. In turn, it makes churning out a site pretty time efficient. I'm currently working on a site for Women Wine and Wellness, which is a networking group made up of women entrepreneurs. We intend to list each woman's business, along with her photo and a 30-sec video.

Let me know if you'd like to get together.

Hello everyone!
I'm new to your group (joined about 15 minutes ago, actually).  I'm a Quality Engineer in the aerospace industry here in Denver.  I have a degree in MIS, but have been out of the loop of core IT happenings for about 6 years.  Being that I'm basically brand new to the web design world, I am looking for help on an idea that I have.

I've got an idea for a new type of social networking site. I've done my research and the demand is already out there, but there's currently nothing exactly like it. I am confident that, with the proper marketing, it will be very popular. As I mentioned, I am an engineer by trade and have a thorough understanding of the internet and marketing strategies, but lack any web development skills. I'm in the beginning stages of self-learning PHP/MySQL, but doing this myself will take longer than I'd like. I'd like to get it to market sooner than later.

That being said, I am looking for a knowledgeable, dependable, enthusiastic person to partner with on this venture. It will merely be sweat equity upfront, however. I plan on seeking capital from venture / angels / et al, but I'd like to have a functional prototype prior to pitching it to investors...rather than pitching a "paper website". Being there will be no upfront pay, you'll need to share the same belief that this effort will prove fruitful when it's all said and done.

If this sounds like something you may be interested in, please contact me via email and we'll hook up to discuss the details.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from and meeting you!

Best Regards,

Chris Mercer
