Sherwood Gardens

There is a gem of a garden in Baltimore. Sherwood Gardens,
every year they plant over 2000 Tulip Bulbs in different colors.  A great place to photograph flowers.

We will have a meetup on Sunday morning I will be there from
9-12, we will meet at 9:00am and weather permitting photograph this great area
of flowers.

Sherwood Gardens  is
located one block east of the 4100 block of St. Paul Street. Turn east onto
East Highfield Road to reach the gardens.

If you are coming three items to bring a plastic to lie or
knell on as the ground is usually wet, knee pads if you have them and tripod.
It will be a good time to talk about shooting flowers and plants outside.

Also we might have chance to use off camera flash.

Also if you have a camera phone the Sherwood
Gardens would be a good place to use it, that includes an iPad 2 and up camera.

Sorry I didn't make it, I had been out there twice already this week and have a bunch of photos, right now low on gas money for another trip and had a long gig Saturday and just couldn't get roused up at 7am.
    Hope it turned out well!

Thanks for the suggestion of the stool, Sunny! I'll try that.

I found using myNikkor[masked] a lot on the tripod but at 200 it was a little soft, even at f20 the depth of field was shallower than I expected, the Nikkor 18-55 was not much for individual shots but good for panoramas of the garden. The Nikkor 55 prime I didn't bother with, probably because the day was mainly a test for the 55-200. Still not totally satisfied with the results I had, what is a good closeup lens for flowers?

The best plastic is white trash bags.
Bring a water misting bottle for the dew effect.
I have to bring my little stool to sit on because I can't get up and down from the ground. It's hell gettin old!

This will be a great opportunity to learn from others. Perhaps I will get some help with my new camera.

A friend went yesterday (Sunday) and said that the flowers are past peak.

Sadly, my knees will not permit me to kneel or squat anymore. That makes picture-taking of flowers rather out of reach, sad to say.

I was at Sherwood Gardens today, a beautiful day, huge crowd! I have never seen such a big crowd. Took 165 photos, and that was only about 1/4 of the park I went through. Finally tuckered out. Next Sunday may be past peak, but there were some that hadn't started to bloom yet. See my new profile photo for first result.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
