Have you ever had a conversation with someone whom you know to be intelligent, but the conversation breaks down because your perceptions of reality are so different? How can this otherwise informed person be so willfully blind to the truth? Is he so biased that he can’t see the reality of the situation?
Daniel Patrick Moynihan once said “Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.” But it is more convenient than ever before for some of us to live in a world built out of our own facts. Our arguments center on different versions of reality. How can so many people who live in the same place see the world so differently? Kevin Hawkins will try to explain with this recap of the book “True Enough; Learning to Live in a Post-Fact Society,” by Farhad Manjoo

SPEAKER: Kevin Hawkins graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Psychology. He owns an independent insurance agency. When not pursuing his never-ending quest for truth, justice, and the American Way, he can be found enjoying photography with Beverly, his bride of 34 years.
