St. Paul Chapter May Meeting

Details
Thanks to the “debate” between Bill Nye and young earth creationist Ken Ham and the TV series Cosmos and Your Inner Fish, evolution is more in the news now than any time since the Dover “Intelligent Design” case a decade ago. Here we take a recent pro-creationist editorial from a mainstream online news site, and compare what it says to the current scientific consensus. What does this exercise show us about how to think critically on this issue?
Greg Peterson has degrees in Biblical Studies, Sociology, and Communications from the University of Northwestern St. Paul and has a 25-year career in journalism, advertising and marketing. He currently works for a Fortune 20 health care company. He has a son finishing law school and a daughter who works in the University of Maryland library program, and a partner of 15 years who holds a senior communications position in a health care risk management company.
From ages 17 to 37, Peterson was a creationist, even participating in official debates against evolutionary theory. After gradually leaving his faith, his formal and informal education lead him to conclude that only evolution provides a scientifically valid view of the natural world
