I started having problems in 1988, my senior year of high school, and was finally diagnosed after many surgeries with Crohn’s disease in 1989. When I first started looking for answers they were pretty hard to find. My weight was all over the place, weighing as low as 98 lbs and as high as 180 lbs in the height of my prednisone use. Prednisone is fun; a savior and a curse. My doctor told me I would have to get used to it because I’d never get off it. I promised myself not to let that happen if there was anything I could do about it.
20 years later I feel the best I ever have. Sure, I still have my ups and downs, but I have been completely off prescription Crohn’s medications for 7 years now and the ups far outweigh the downs. (These days the downs don’t go near as low as they used to either.) I’ve learned lots of things that books and traditional doctors couldn’t tell me about how to live with Crohn’s. I know there are others out there who know lots of things that help too, so why not share what we know and help each other out in the process. If you happen to have more questions than answers I hope this group can help you find what you’re looking for.
So if you have Crohn’s, a child with Crohn’s, or are looking for answers for someone in your life this group is for you. I’m not selling anything and I’m not a doctor, I just know what it’s like to suffer with Crohn’s and I think together we can help people have a more quality life.
