I know we will have discussion at the first meetup, but to get you thinking, I was considering the topic of "Approaches to securing APIs and why most companies are failing". Thoughts?

We are growing!! 10 members now, that's awesome. I'll send out an agenda this week and a specific location. I figure we can keep the first meeting light and introductory. The second meeting will be planned based upon the output and opinions of the first. The goal, of course, is to deep dive into real-world problems and solutions as well as gain exposure to the latest academic trends.

I just wanted to thank everyone who has joined. From the looks of the profiles, we will have some real talent in the group - that's great! In case you were dying to hear more details about why I started this...three primary reasons:

1) Too many developers and, therefore, companies are doing it wrong. I might even say 95+% have easily compromised systems.
2) Good guidance and practices in the security space is difficult to find and even more difficult to implement. It would be great to separate the good from the bad and publish it in a central location.
3) I always feel that I can/need to learn more, and I hope those that attend, feel the same.

Anyway, glad to have you all aboard. Tell your friends and colleagues that may be interested...see you soon.
