The Denver Lovecraftian Gaming Society is a meetup group for people who appreciate horror TTRPGs and board gaming. The emphasis in the name is more Lovecraftian and Mythos/Cosmic inspired style horror and mystery but this gaming meetup group includes a much wider range of horror and mystery themes.

This group is for those that like to play tabletop roleplaying games and/or play board games, and get to know fellow gamers over coffee, drinks, food, movies, etc.
There are a number of great games based in the Cthulhu Mythos: The Call of Cthulhu RPG; Trail of Cthulhu RPG; Achtung Cthulhu! RPG; Arkham Horror, and Mansions of Madness board games, along with many more RPGs that have a strong general horror focus like Alien RPG (based off the movie/tv franchise), World of Darkness series of RPGs, and Mörk Borg which is a great dark fantasy/horror ttrpg.

The goal of this group is to build a community of gamers that would like to meet and play RPG's and board games, and also want to get to know fellow gamers over social events. So there will also be casual meet and greets where members can gather to see new faces, see longtime members, or just want a fun meetup in a non-gaming environment over drinks, coffee, or whatever.

Any member is welcome to host gaming or non-gaming social events!

And another reminder for those attending events: If you RSVP to an event and cannot make it we understand, but please cancel your RSVP or send a message to the event host. We all understand that life happens and other things can get in the way. But not showing up to an event without any cancelation notice is not polite to the people that have put in their time and effort to host the events - especially if there is a limited number of seats at the event and/or reservations were required. If you sign up for an event put it on your calendar or in your phone with a reminder, and if something comes up that keeps you from attending, no one is going to be offended if you have to cancel.

As an FYI for the games I GM, the majority of my gaming friends that I have known for many years live out-of-state. And another group that I play in also live out-of-state. So every game I have been in over the past several years has been virtual on our group's Discord server.
Plus our house is small and both of us have hybrid work schedules so our gaming space is now occupied by our work-from-home offices.

Also, I am fine with meetup members from outside of Denver or Colorado joining the group- especially if you are good with online gaming through Discord video/audio chat.

Hi Everyone,
I am looking for 1 player to join our current 4 players in a long running virtual weird horror Mörk Borg campaign. Our group is more exploration and social interaction focused than with combat.

If this gaming style sounds good to you, you might be a good fit for our group.
This game is primarily theater-of-the-mind style and is online on my Denver Lovecraftian Gaming Society Discord server.

We are a very flexible group and usually play for about 3 or 3.5 hours. Although sometimes we might only play for 2 hours. We often have 2 or 3 Saturday afternoon sessions per month, but sometimes the schedule is less frequent.

Mörk Borg RPG is an art heavy and rules light d20 style dark fantasy RPG made by Swedish company Free League. You do NOT need previous experience playing Mörk Borg if you would like to join this game.

I am using slightly modified character creation rules and a different character sheet. The campaign setting is an open world sandbox style game with elements of mystery and weird horror. There was only one adventure hook (beyond survival) to start the campaign and after more than 40 sessions and a few detours the current player characters are on the verge of uncovering some of the mysteries from that starting hook.

The d20 rules are super easy and if you ever played any version of D&D or any of the other d20 fantasy RPGs (old school or new) this game is significantly easier to understand. Combat is also very deadly and the game does not use a traditional leveling-up system like D&D and other OSR style games. Character creation is quick and if you are interested in joining, we should meet online before the first session you are able to join to go over some of the campaign backstory and to create your character.
