There is something really mysterious about the forest at night. It's scary, spooky and a great adrenaline ride.
And my mum has always warned me not to go there after dark. So... let's do it! Bring your torches and hiking boots and join me for a leisurely walk in Epping Forest, after dark. And don't worry, I will bring you back to the civilisation before the tube stops running. :)
Distance: 8.6 km
Time: around 2 hours.
What to bring: Please make sure you have torches and reflective clothing. The route is unlit and your torch will be the only thing lighting your way (well, except for lights that others will have). So make sure you have at least two on you and some spare batteries. You will need to have reflecting clothing for your own safety as on a couple of occasions we will be crossing the roads and high visibility clothes will allow the drivers to see you.
Meeting point: Loughton station - Sainsbury's side. I will be waiting for you just in front of the station.
Meeting time: we will meet at 6:30pm in Loughton station and walk from there to the pub for a quick drink/food. We will start the walk at 7:30pm promptly. If you are any later than that you will not be able to join us.
If you arrive straight from work, you can join us in the pub called The Last Post (227 High Rd, Town Centre, Loughton IG10 1BB). I will not be able to stay for the social after the walk as it is a long way home, but happy to have a drink or some food before. :)

I will only be available on this number between 6:30 and 7:30. I will have to switch it off and focus on the route as soon as we start.
If you are not able to get through, this maybe because 30 other people are trying to call me at the same time. So please make sure you check your way to the meeting point on the TFL website and google maps and give yourself enough time as we will not wait beyond 7:30.
Please don't email me or leave voice mails as these will not be checked until a couple of days later.
Late commers: I'm afraid we will leave for a walk promptly at 7:45, no exceptions. So if you are coming from afar, please aim to be there half an hour early, this way you will be sure to arrive on time. No calls will be answered after 7:45pm either as I will have to focus on the route.
Think of some good ghost stories! It will be great to hear some on the way. :)
Finally by sigining up to this meeet up you agree that it is your responsibility to not get lost! I will be showing you the way and I will bring you back to Loughton after the walk, but you need to make sure that you
don't lose me or the group. Don't stay behind and make sure you keep up with the group at all times as we will not be able to keep an eye on you in the dark! Plesae also be really careful how you step, as the route can be muddy and there can be obstacles on your way. Your torch needs to be good enough to light your way sufficiently.

With over 60 events coming up, almost 5,000 members, current volume of emails, and only one me, it is simply impossible to monitor all the other channels. It would require hiring admin support and setting up a call centre, which as you can imagine would increase the costs of the events considerably.
