As urban trails go this has to be one of the best in London. Slight decline downhill all the way, track\path terrain so any type of bike suitable with lots of great scenery.
Meeting up at Willesden Junction and the joining the Regents Canal in under 1 minute from the station, we can head down through Little Venice, around Regents Park past the bird cages and million pound mansions, through Camden lock, then Angel and drop down in to Limehouse Basin (close to the Tower of London).
(Not our video but we doff our cap to the creator)
As we pass a number of major train stations and food areas, there is opportunity to drop off the route as riders please or take refreshment. I am aim to finish at Waterloo Station.
The route would be suitable for mountain bikes, hybrids, folding and road bikes.
We have scheduled the event for this time to maximise quieter trains and roads. In terms of how you get to the start and from the finish I would recommend using the London TFL website checking engineering works that day too.
The route may vary a little due to challenges we hit on the day and each rider is responsible for their own health & safety.
The event will be cancelled giving a minimum of 48 hours notice if there is a risk of bad weather. By the same token, if you do not plan to attend please change your RSVP.
Our Cycle Explorers group is for people who like getting out and riding new routes and in new locations.
We like to take the hassle out of riding preferring quiet country roads, bridleways and footpaths. Rivers, coasts, forests and valleys. We will look to ride to areas of interest, history and beauty perhaps some old church ruins or well known landmarks.
Our rides are ideal for those who are looking to develop their endurance and cycling knowledge, perhaps train for a cycling challenge or just like to ride and want to meet up with other people and ride somewhere new.
We are looking for members of all levels, from beginners to experienced riders who would like to help encourage others. We want everyone to feel comfortable and welcome.
Members are encouraged to make suggestions and requests, perhaps you have a great riding route near you that you would like to share, or perhaps there is somewhere you have always wanted to ride but have never had the chance. What ever and where ever we would be keen to give it a try.
My name is Steve, I have lots of experience in all weather cycling and bicycle maintenance. I have done several cycling challenges and have learnt a lot along the way in training for these rides. I have cycled London to Paris, the C2C, and many more. I am currently training to ride Lands End to John O'Groats next year and I want to share my interest with others.
If you are looking to train for an event or want to gain cycling confidence or want to help those that do you have found the right group!
