The Food Market Returns!

  • Feb 19, 2012 · 5:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

After the great success of the first food market, let's head back to The Blind Dog Cafe at Darnell's Bar for more delicious homemade food and good conversation! Like last time, please bring a favorite dish and all of the equipment needed to house and serve it. There are burners and an oven available if you need to heat things up. We will set all the food on the bar and create another free food market.

Not sure why I'm not showing up as "attended" -- but I was there and it was terrific! Bacon tartlets; focaccia with pear, blue chees and caramelized onions; huge shrimp sauteed in butter and spices, earl grey honey ice cream; bread pudding, crab balls, cherry coconut chocolate goodies; yum yum!

So great to catch up with everyone, and meet so many new people. Now we move onto the next one!

The night was a lot of fun. Thanks to Darnell's and the Blind Dog folks for hosting us. Now, whoever brought the Mexican chocolate brownies, will you PLEASE share the recipe? I don't usually like sweets, but they were amazing! Thanks!

Yes, we will have paper and pens and everyone can label their dishes. We look forward to welcoming you both.

I have a few questions that someone can answer please. Are all of the dishes labeled with either a full ingredients listing or an allergen listing?! If this is not something that is standard practice for the group at these "tastings" events, is it possible to start doing?! My mom and I are both gluten free and it would be helpful to know what we can safely sample. Either way, we will still be attending.

Will there be electrical outlets to plug in warmer/crockpot/etc? Should we be posting what we will bring?

We're excited to host everyone again this Sunday at the Blind Dog Cafe @ Darnell's (944 Florida Avenue). Please bring a dish and anything needed to house and serve it. We will have access to a stove and oven for finishing dishes. The Cafe has a full bar, and we will have plates and silverware for everyone. Come hungry! See you Sunday.
