  • In this talk, we'll look at what it takes to convert highly visual, creative content, such as an advertizement, into code. Using front end web technologies (HTML, CSS, etc), we'll look at how to break intricate graphics down into components that will make your code clear and readable.

    Advertising is not an industry that traditionally comes to mind when you think about software development, but as advertising moves towards digital mediums, the demand for developers with these skills is continually increasing.

    Tessa Ann Taylor is the founder of Co (, a messaging app that bring all your personal messages together in one place. She is also a freelance software developer, specializing in advertising technology.

    Previously, Tessa worked as a Ruby on Rails developer at Affinity Labs, a subsidiary of Monster Worldwide.

    I wonder is the idea to use vector graphics for the art? And is the idea that the art is generated the same as before, then it is passed through this process? thank you!

      Hmm, I think that translating any UI, eg a visual mockup, to code requires good abstraction and thinking about architecture. Is this the type of work you are meaning or am I still confused ? :) thank you!

      Absolutely. Advertising is a great place to demonstrate the importance of good practices, as the creative tends to be more complex.
