DC Agile UG - MEETUP#6: The Agile Team Facilitation Stance by Marsha Acker

The Team Facilitation Stance

Ready to take your Scrum Master skills to the next level? Collaboration is a core value in agile teams but over time team dysfunctions can emerge that reduce the team’s ability to collaborate effectively. Agile teams need Facilitators who can facilitate agile practices, foster effective collaboration, support meaningful dialogues and enable team decision making.

In this interactive session we’ll explore the stance and skills of an Agile Team Facilitator and learn techniques for facilitating agile teams.

Hey Marsha: Thank you very much for your presentation on the facilitation stance and teaching by example. When you get a chance please list some of the books that you recommended last night. I know you mentioned Kantor's, "Four Player Model" and "Good Degree" (not sure I heard you correctly on this one).

I found this on the Four Player Model:

In addition to Coaching Agile Teams by Lyssa Adkins and Collaboration Explained by Jean Tabaka, here are a few others if you want to dive in deeper: Team Leader Guide by the Grove (one of my favorites and a great guide for techniques in developing teams) http://store.grove.co... Advanced Facilitation Strategies by Ingrid Bens http://www.amazon.com... The Secrets of Facilitation by Michael Wilkinson http://www.amazon.com...

The speaker was concise and engaging. Definitely knew what she was talking about. Came with lots of helpful ideas to continue on with the topic for further study.

Great meetup. Marsha did a great job of teaching the group facilitation skills by having us participate in facilitation exercises. I took away a lot from this meeting and will be trying a couple of her techniques with some of the teams I work with soon. Thank youl
