DC macrobiotic chef and cooking instructor leads this group, which meets once a month in the Georgetown/Glover Park/Burleith area of Washington DC. We meet from 6:30 to 8 pm for a macrobiotic meal and participatory discussion about macrobiotics.
Macrobiotics is not a vegan or vegetarian diet per se, but it can be adopted as such by individuals. Chef Juliette, who has 30 years of experience cooking mostly vegan macrobiotic fares will serve mostly vegan meals made with fresh organic produce and products. Meals however, may include fish.
This group is created to serve anyone interesested in macrobiotics as well as anyone who wants to explore shifting to a healthier lifestyle. After socializing, Juliette will lead a participatory discussion about macrobiotics. Topics explored include food as energy concept, yin and yang; 5-element theory and any other issues relating to macrobiotics and/or shifting to a healthier diet.

A profound issue in macrobiotics is how to make it work in contemporary modern 21st century, given everyone's busy lives. Newcomers to macrobiotics rightly question the guidelines as outlined in many of the books, unclear about how "strictly" they should or should not adhere to them.
