To all new people, our group is against Christian nationalism. Christian zoom bombers invaded our meetings until we were required to vet everyone who attends. Directions about how to get vetted are included after our meeting details below.
It would be so nice to again live in a time when free time meant thinking about which friends, music, delicious food, or activities might bring joy to our lives. Insane government action is threatening our future in ways that demand our attention. AI and tech changes are are impacting things with a ferocity that will also demand our attention with this next meeting.
Christian nationalism is the force propelling the “unitary executive” toward the desired new monarchy. The recent Rededicate America celebration on the Mall underscored how this 250 year anniversary of our country will be used to focus on creating a theocracy. The speakers all asserted their delusions that the founders were all young earth fundamentalist Christians. I was happy to see major Catholic and Baptist publications accurately debunk much of the nonsense spewed at this gathering.
That aspiring monarchy has eliminated nearly all senior experts in the State Department. The Defense Department has systematically eliminated most senior flag officers who understand military strategy and tactics. Policy is dictated from the President’s cell phone. The net result has been a war with Iran that might be nearly impossible to end on anything like reasonable terms. It has jacked consumer inflation up to 3.8% in the last month. The US is now an exporter of between 10 to 12.9 million barrels of oil and petroleum products per day. We are producing 13.2 million of crude oil per day. We are rapidly reaching a point where reserves will no longer allow this level of exports and prices will skyrocket.
Iran is demanding the end to the Israel/Lebanon war. Netanyahu is likely to be voted out of office if that war does not continue. Israel has demanded the evacuation of one fifth of Lebanon’s population from the southern eight of its land area. The Lebanon central government has no power to stop Hezbollah from firing rockets into northern Israel. This is just one of the many problems precluding a solution to this regional disaster with world altering implications.
Fortunately we are seeing what may be first signs of congressional Republican willingness to constrain the worst corruption and excesses of executive power. They are rejecting an absurd $1billion security request for the White House. They do not accept the blatant self-dealing of the $1.776 billion fund “compensation for the weaponization of the Justice Department.” Congressional majorities now support passing limits under the War Powers Act. There is talk of forcing dispersal of the withheld $400 million appropriated for the Ukraine and Baltic states. They left Washington without passing the $70 billion funding for Homeland Security.
On the $1.776 billion “settlement” Mitch McConnell said, “So the nation’s top law enforcement official is asking for a slush fund to pay people who assault cops? Utterly stupid, morally wrong – Take your pick” Sen. Tom Tillis said, “stupid on stilts.” The Wall Street Journal reports that more than a dozen GOP members of the Senate have asked the administration to delete this fund because it cannot be defended. The $10 billion initial lawsuit was filed under a law that set the maximum claim for a personal tax disclosure to $1,000. The lawsuit was filed far after the two years statute of limitations for such suits. There is not the slightest possibility that this lawsuit would succeed if the tiniest legal defense was mounted to litigate its absurdity. This fund is designed to reward and rearm the various extremists and militia groups willing to violently support right wing nationalism. On May 29, Judge Kathleen Williams reopened this case to discern if the settlement was “a product of collusion and is itself a fraud on the Court.”
ProPublica documented that Peter Navarro, an aid to Trump, has arranged for a $620 million loan from a Defense Department fund to a Don Trump Jr. related mining company. Vulcan Elements is a very small North Carolina startup company. This loan increased the value of the company by $1.2 billion. There are numerous documented no-bid contracts to newly created LLCs and explicitly Trump related companies. Forbes claims that Donald Trump’s net worth has increase by $3 billion since 2024 to $7.3 billion. The Times claims that Eric Trump’s net worth has increased ten-fold to $400 million since his father’s election win, according to Forbes. Donald Trump Jr’s has risen from $50 million to an estimated $300 million. We have overwhelming proof that corruption is a central property of this administration. Corruption on this scale has never been seen before in American history.
Will democracy and science and reason survive? We will see. We will cherish and support each other as we cope with these never ending tidal waves of madness. Let’s connect and share our thoughts on how to find our joy and nurture it in others until sanity returns.

Our meetings have become a target for organized zoom bombing. Our major topic of discussion has been Christian nationalism and its hideous impacts across America. They have good reason to try to force us to stop our meetings. This requires us to work to preclude militant religious extremists from wrecking our meetings.
We will not post the zoom link for our meeting. The zoom link information will be delivered by email or direct personal messaging to trusted attendees only. I am now comfortable that this procedure works well enough so that a zoom waiting room will not be required.
