In the past week or so, this mailing list has exploded with discussion. I have been ignoring most of it. I get my email from this list in digest mode.
One thing about digest mode is this: it includes the entire content of every email sent. So if you reply to an email, and include all of the content of the email you're replying to, I get two copies of that message in the digest. And if a second reply is sent, that email will be included a second time.
Basically, if everybody is replying to emails without doing any kind of truncation, then the size of n emails will be on the order of n^2. (Sorry to jump into computer science terminology there - it's the way I think about it.) Basically, the amount of junk in the digest will increase much faster than the amount of interesting material.
So, please, if you want me to read your email (and I presume that's what you want, since you're
sending it to a mailing list), please chop off as much as possible before sending a reply.
