Hi everyone! We wanted to update you with the latest on our meet-up group and announce that we?ve revamped our photography meet-up co-op site, http://www.PhotoMeetUps.com
(PMU). Please head over there and help us kick-off our new look. Be prepared to relax a bit as we recommend you watch the video of Jerry with Kimora Lee Simmons which is almost ten minutes long as he helps her with photography for a national advertising campaign.
We understand many of you have been extremely patient with our meet-up group and we sincerely appreciate this. We are working on new meet-up event dates for all our groups and ask that you continue to show your support while we grow. The overwhelming response to our concept of a learning environment paired with a networking experience has encouraged us to give each of our members an experience beyond the regular meetup venues. Jerry, Rolando and Barbara decided it was time to overhaul our original concept so we can provide you, the member, more resources outside the ?classroom?. We want to give you a virtual community along with the human touch of on-the-ground meet-ups.
Our mantra is to provide you a social networking community dedicated to spreading the gospel of photography virtually and in person. Our goal is to help photographers become better with the photography they passionately enjoy. From beginners to advanced, PMU will strive at providing every photographic explorer (member) tools to improve their photography skills. Utilizing our on-line community with scheduled events across the country, PhotoMeetUps.com offers personalized guidance to the photographers.
Originally formed as a ?co-op? of photography meet-up groups, PMU brings a new format to online social networking. A hybrid model of virtual assets combined with on the ground human interaction. Our focus is teaching photography by sharing knowledge and experience at these events amongst groups within our virtual network.
We will soon be announcing photography meet-ups in your area, but we intimately need your help to get there by simply joining PhotoMeetUps.com
, paying your monthly dues
and attending meet-ups the best you can. We will provide both virtual meet-ups along with on-location meet-ups and the schedule should be posted very soon. This schedule is dependant on you doing your part by signing up at PhotoMeetUps.com. Remember, we?ve had monthly dues since the very beginning, and our dues cover things like flight, hotel, venue rentals, guest speakers, web servers, etc. In order for us to bring you those regularly scheduled events, we need you to be active on the website community too! In addition, we need your help by doing the following:
Register at PhotoMeetUps.com?this is a totally new registration system. You can even register with your Facebook.com login and password?just click the Facebook Connect blue bar link on the login panel. Once your account is created, please upload an avatar, photo of your choice, for your profile photo. Then upload images in the portfolio/album system?it even lets you rotate the images once uploaded! Then please friend request your friends to earn activity points. Post an introduction on the forums and poke around. The site is still being built, but it?s very functional. We realize you might experience a bug or too, please continue to be patient with us as we strive to bring you the very best.
It?s also pertinent that you visit at least several times per week to stay current on meet-up announcements, new articles, upcoming videos, podcasts and more. Your support, interaction on the website, prompt payments and spreading the word around to your friends and colleagues will help get these meet-ups to you faster along with top-content you can enjoy and learn from. Again, many thanks for your patience and we?ll soon be in your area, thanks! Jerry, Rolando and BarbaraP.S.
If you have a monthly subscription from the previous website, you will need to re-register as we have moved to a different method of accounting. When you register on the new site, your previous subscription will be cancelled. If you have any questions, please email Barbara ([address removed])
