DC PHP Beverage Subgroup (in DC)

Hello there, welcome to the monthly DC PHP beverage subgroup.

We meet last Tuesday of the month at the Meridian Pint which is located at [masked]th St NW, Washington, DC. If you're coming via metro, Columbia Heights is the nearest stop, from there it's a 5-10 minute walk, coming out of the metro go east on Irving St. and then hang a left onto 11th St., the Pint is located directly on the corner of 11th and Park. If you're driving you should be able to find plenty of parking on that block.

Once you get there ask the server about the PHP meetup, or keep your eyes open for the blue fuzzy elePHPant mascot.

Eric.

    I got to go to my very first DC PHP Beverage Subgroup meeting last night. Wow! It was great! Being able to meet and talk with so many talented professionals, who overcome the same challenges that we all face on a regular basis, was incredibly valuable and entertaining. Thank you all for being so welcoming.

    Wow, I just totally had my mind blown. Instead of writing
    if (!A) {
    B }
    like nice old fashioned C syntax style, this guy just writes
    A or B;

      So I showed that code to our support team lead, explained how it's a clever use of php's lazy evaluation. His response was, "Very nice, if I see you putting it into our code, I'll kick your ass." So I guess readability trumps brevity, unless your code will only be read by hacker elites.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
