Describe your backpacking experience and background, please include longest mileage in a day (with pack) and coldest nights out.

29 mile day was longest day, nights in the 20s.

Describe your most recent outdoor adventure. When was it? How did you set it up? Did the weather cooperate? How did it go?

Love Dolly Sods and Allegheny Front Trail.

The Big Three: what specific gear (not just brands) do you use for your three-season shelter system, sleep system, and backpack? (It's okay if it isn't ultralight!)

ZPack Arc Blast, Zpacks Duplex, Therm-a-rest Z thingy. Yay!

Help us understand your reason for joining DC UL Backpacking, including your goals for lightening your load and quickening your backpacking pace.

I like you. You are small groups and great fun and good planners.

How did you learn about our group? (I'm trying to improve our visibility, so I'm curious.)

Hi there!

What Carrie P is saying about this Meetup Group

I started backpacking in 2012. My packs were heavy, my feet were sore, and even though I had fun I was mostly in pain. Then I decided to go out with this group. I lightened my load, little by little (I'm still working on it), enjoyed some personal record mileages, and realized just how fun and pleasant everything can be when you're not heaving 35 lbs. on your back. I also think that what this group is able to accomplish is just phenomenal--fairly regular trips with multiple organizers, a good protocol for safety on trips, a good attitude toward newcomers and oldcomers, and even international trips--it's just really nice to know this group exists. Thanks, Michael and the other organizers for all you do.
