Go out a few times a year, usualy with a fairly heavy pack. Have been out when it was about 20F at Dolly Sods and windy, and probably have done 15 miles per day with a pack.
The most recent adventure was kayaking around Manhattan--weather was splendid and the trip was challenging (30 miles) and went well.
Use my Sierra Designs tent which has always kept me dry even during all night downfalls and a Kathmandu down sleeping bag, use a Serratus backpack which is internal frame and has served me well but is not esp light.
Want to observe what others put in the bag, esp the clothes layering system. I've often been the one who carries extra so can therefore loan stuff out to others who did not carry enough, but would like to see how to prune back

Really enjoy the getaways to the outdoors to do hiking, backpacking, and kayaking. Can do the lollygag casual stroll or the intense times effort, just depending ... The ultra light is an aspiration and I could use some guidance.
