Talk Description:
Blackboard's Cloud Services DevOps team uses Ansible to overcome configuration management challenges while managing 100+ servers hosted with Amazon Web Services that form a new SaaS offering Demonstrate the use of Ansible and AWS to stand up a new Cassandra cluster with Zabbix monitoring, followed by teardown. In this talk Matt will discuss how the Cloud team takes advantage of the power of Ansible to manage their infrastructure.
About the Speaker:
Matthew Johnson has over 14 years of experience with networks, servers and shell-script automation while working for companies such as EDS, Manugistics and Blackboard. At Blackboard, he managed the growth of the Development Infrastructure Team from one person and 125 servers to 15 people and 2,000 servers. During this growth phase, he advocated successfully for proper data center space and later developed the strategy for condensing the data center footprint by 50% through dense server virtualization clusters. In his current role at Blackboard, he manages the Cloud Services DevOps Team which is responsible for internal build infrastructure and external SaaS platform servers.
