First Anniversary – Release 1.0 Code Kata
Let’s celebrate one year of learning and exploration!
In honor of this special occasion this month’s DC F# User Group will hold a uniquely fun event to improve your coding skills – Code Kata!!
All are welcome at this fun and interactive exercise, bring your co-workers, bring your friends, heck…. bring your mom! Fun for all.
This event is designed for F# beginners who would like to learn more and as well as more experienced F# developers looking to practice their skills. You can code in C# or F# or VB.net.
During the event there will be beer, pizza and cupcakes!
If you don't know what a Code Kata is, here's the description from Wikipedia:
Code Kata is a term coined by Dave Thomas (http://blogs.msdn.com/wiki/Dave_Thomas_(programmer)), co-author of the book The Pragmatic Programmer (http://blogs.msdn.com/wiki/The_Pragmatic_Programmer), in a bow to the Japanese concept of kata (http://blogs.msdn.com/wiki/Kata_(martial_arts)) in the martial arts. A code kata is an exercise in programming which helps a programmer hone their skills through practice and repetition.
You will code an algorithm against the other coders… and may the best/luckiest geek prevail! You will earn bragging rights for a year as well as some great prizes from our sponsors!
First price $ 100.00 Amazon Gift card
To get the most from the session, please try and bring a laptop along with F# installed (ideally either MonoDevelop or Visual Studio Web Express/Full Edition). Check out fsharp.org (http://fsharp.org/) for instructions on how to get F# ready on your machine.
