6:30 to 7:00 pm "n00b Presentation" - Actor (MailBoxprocessor) Model Patterns - Riccardo Terrell
Who: Richard Minerich works tirelessly at Bayard Rock to apply cutting edge research to anti-money laundering and fraud while using typed functional programming whenever possible. As an F# MVP he's been running events, speaking, and writing for over five years. You can often find him at one of his events, the monthly NYC F# User Group and the yearly NYC F# Tutorials. He also helps run the NY Haskell Users Group.
Main Session 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
What: Much of F#'s safety and conciseness stems from favoring expressions over statements. Unlike statements, expressions are composable, assignable and best of all manipulable through transformations. This ability to manipulate expressions has given us everything from async to query syntax. Come join me in exploring the awesome power of computation expressions, F#'s general purpose mechanism for manipulating expressions.
Pizza and Raffled off prizes for the attendees
Where: B-Line Medical is located 2 blocks south of the Dupont Circle metro stop (red line). Exit on dupont south and the building is at the corner of 19th and N street NW. Driving is not encouraged as parking will be extremely difficult. The building needs a key card to get in after 6pm but Riccardo and Khiem will be hanging around outside to let people in. B-Line medical is on the first floor of the building right around the corner at the end of the hallway.
Can't make it? We'll be recording our meetup and posting it to our youtube
