DC Beacons

A Beacon is a small, wireless bluetooth device. When placed in a physical space, it broadcasts tiny radio signals to smart devices. Think about it as a very small lighthouse. Smartphones that are in range are able to 'hear' these signals and estimate their location very precisely, as well as communicate with the beacon to exchange data and information.  Beacon's are bluetooth-based, specifically Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and are able to operate for a long time with very little power.

This group is intended to find developers in the Beacon community and to build new and innovative solutions with this exciting new technology.
