Intro to Whitewater Kayaking Beginner Level 1

Living in the DC area and not whitewater kayaking, is like living in Vail and not being a skier. The DC are has more kayakers than anywhere, and for good reason. There is every type of whitewater available within a ten minute drive from DC, with easy access.

You have to start somewhere, before you go "shootin the rapids", and that means taking a quality beginner lesson to get all the fundamentals necessary. The indoor pool is a great place to do just that. The indoor pool is warm, safe, and familiar. The pool is an easy place to be able to be comfortable, and focused, while you get the basics down.

Valley Mill has been teaching whitewater kayaking since 1956. Valley Mill has patient, skilled, and fun instructors who will guide you through this two hour lesson.

All kayaks and gear is included in this two hour lesson.

In the lesson you will learn the basics; kayak and gear orientation, the wet exit(how to get out of the kayak upside down), the hip-snap(body movement that rights the kayak),the T-rescue, and the brace/roll

The two hour lesson covers a lot. It's a quick paced, fun, and informative class. Sign up be ready to be challenged.

I'm so upset I didn't know about level one. This was a bucket list item for me.

Any chance I could sneak in for a late RSVP? I thought I'd be spelunking today and it got snowed out!

To save some time tomorrow night at the pool, it would help if everyone filled out the waiver and medical forms from the Valley Mill website. Go to www.valleymillkayak.com and click on "forms". We will have some at the pool, but doing them ahead of time speeds things up.
They are calling for some type of weather tomorrow. It's looking like just rain by evening, so we are ON for tomorrow night.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the pool!

    Thanks!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
