Join DC Legal Hackers and the GWU Cyberlaw Students Association for an event to discuss a fascinating issue at the forefront of IP law: collaborative trademarks.
We're excited to have Yana Welinder and Stephen LaPorte of the Wikimedia Foundation join us for this event (remotely from CA). They recently wrote an article entitled "Hacking Trademark Law for Collaborative Communities (https://cyberlaw.stanford.edu/blog/2014/10/hacking-trademarks-free-culture)" that explores challenges and opportunities for using trademark law to protect open source software projects and collaborative communities (like Legal Hackers), and also launched a project called CollabMark (http://collabmark.org/) to bring their ideas into practice.
