Getting Started on Hadoop: A Hands on Experience

We are excited for to see what 2015 holds for everyone. We continue to strengthen our focus for the DFW Analytics Meetup and this year we are adding a hands-on working track to get you involved with utilizing Hadoop and other topics and discussions along the way. Our first meeting is an introduction to a three-part series that will take us on a business and technology focused exploration. From a business standpoint we will collaborate and address potential use cases along with data identification. Also, from a technology standpoint we will explore installing a Hadoop sandbox through to export of the data to Microsoft Excel and producing usable graphs and visualizations.

We hope you are as excited as we are with this new hands-on track. This first meeting of the year will require some pre-event preparation. Once you RSVP that you are attending, we will send further instructions that will be required prior to the meeting.

Agenda:

5:30 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. : Setup and installation of VirtualBox and Hadoop Sandbox (This is optional and only required if you have not pre-installed the information we will send when you RSVP)

6:15 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. : Welcome and outlook for 2015

6:30 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. : Hadoop overview, tutorial and hands on demo

7:15 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. : Wrap up and Collaboration

7:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. : Social and close

Dinner and drinks will be provided. If you have dietary restrictions, please advise us before the event.

Parking at the Convention Center in free and is located on the West side of the building.
