Real-time Streaming with Storm and Kafka

Hello Experimenters:

This month, we have Paul Hargis (https://www.linkedin.com/in/pmhargis) (Hortonworks (http://hortonworks.com/)) returning to give us a perspective of a streaming framework found in the big data world - Apache Storm (https://storm.apache.org/).

In Paul's words:

Technical discussion and demo showing real time data ingestion into Hadoop (into Hive and Hbase) using Storm and Kafka. This exercise will show how geo-location information from smart meters onboard trucks can be combined with sensors on roads which report real-time events like speeding, lane-departure, unsafe tailgating, and unsafe following distances.
