DIYBIO San Diego, the time has come. We have been graciously handed the keys to the Bio, Tech and Beyond lab! Although supplies and equipment are just starting to trickle in, it should be a fun night to check out the new digs and meet with the DIYBio Community. Meet some of the hardworking community members putting Bio, Tech and Beyond on the map. Come join us Thursday Night with refreshments provided! You can check out the website, biotechnbeyond.com for more info.

Awesome, It was great to see so many people talk about what they would want to do at Bio, Tech and Beyond.

Hey everyone, just wanted to clarify something. The purpose of beer in the title above is to let everyone know that we will have refreshments. Additionally, the idea was to talk about some of the oldest known uses of biotechnology that humans have 'cultured'... fermentation! A possible project was proposed for teaching a class about the chemistry and microbiology of fermentation, so this is why beer appears in the title!

At this point, we managed to dump over there: Packard microarray scanner, inverted microscope/CCD camera, Roche LightCycler real time PCR machine, Buchi Rotovap, Speed Vac, slide based PCR machine, 4 different lasers (650nm, 532nm, 600nm, 488nm), Photomulitplier tube (working), hudson control plate crane robot arm, VandP replicator pins, scales, refrigerator with fluorophores. microfuge, table top centrifuge, chilled recirculating baths, pipet tips. We will be setting up a couple MendelMax 3d (reprap) printers on thursday eve too and show off a new Repstrap CNC system that can be used for lab automation methods (liquid handling, imaging)
