I work in the Prospect/Crown Heights neighborhood helping 50+ merchants strengthen their merchant association in hopes of becoming a Business Improvement District. I also manage and execute street beautification projects there and develop websites for local businesses. I have done a few, and I help maintain a few others. Currently, I'm working with Heart of Brooklyn on developing their Building Strong Communities website. I'm really interested in what is happening right now in DUMBO - both in terms of technology and the Business Improvement District broadly, so I would love to attend a breakfast!
Everything! No, seriously, probably due to my degree in philosophy, I'm especially fascinated by the relationship between technology and language. It is still seriously mind boggling/amazing to me that coding languages can create products that have functions. This is awesome! My nerdy self would love to write a research paper on the horizons and possibilities for coding languages, as well as their limits compared with natural languages (i.e., we, as humans have the ability to speak in metaphor, but computers don't work metaphorically, but how do coding languages transcend the functions inherent within our natural languages?). Anyhow, this is a really interesting topic to me and perhaps one day I'll pursue graduate study in the philosophy of language (and write a dissertation on the intersection of natural languages and technology!). Until then, I hope to continue learning, developing, improving Brooklyn and joining on interesting conversations!
