Open to the Public. For anyone interested in learning more about DaVinci Coders (http://davincicoders.com/), here's how:

This week's speaker will be Chris Riddoch, a free/open source developer. The topic will be "Software Licenses and your Rails website."

Working with open source and free software is a part of making websites with Ruby and Rails. What exactly does that mean, and how does this affect you? Whether you're making a personal website with sinatra or a large commercial service with rails, you're standing on the shoulders of giants. What do the GPL, LGPL, BSD, Apache, and other software licenses require of you? This talk will help you understand the differences between them, and cut through some of the most common myths and misunderstandings of licensing.

Chris Riddoch is a free/open source developer and advocate with a background in linguistics. While he doesn't have a law degree, he's not afraid of dense reading material and has a variety of relevant library cards.
